In this suspenseful sequel to Robin A. Lieberman’s gripping debut novel, Searching for September, September (Seppie) Webb has found love again after an abusive, destructive relationship with widowed attorney Teddy Zezza. Her one regret was leaving behind his young daughter, Lily, with whom she has forged a close relationship. Several years later she coincidentally reconnects with Lily, and once again finds herself filling the shoes of Lily’s deceased mother.
Seppie weaves her into the fabric of her family and Lily is embraced by each person, who boundlessly pulls her into their lives. Lily’s marriage to Adam adds dimension to her life as the two embark on their own wonderful journey, or does it? Can the love and support of a solid family behind Lily and her husband be the catalyst that can change the trajectory of her troubled past?
The positive relationships that develop between Seppie’s family and Lily shift over time as Lily attempts to manipulate and conquer and divide the good intentions of a loving family. Just as she missed the red flags in her relationship with Teddy, Seppie’s blinding love for Lily and her mission to fulfill “a promise” skew her judgment. She dismisses the warning signs, and her family is driven down a dark road, headed for disaster, with Lily in the driver’s seat. Seppie’s intrinsic need to remedy broken people continues to tether her to unhealthy relationships.
Seppie also uncovers the missing pieces needed to help her understand Teddy’s life before she entered it. Can she finally come to terms with letting go and changing her course, armed with the realization that she’s deserving of happiness and a fulfilling future?
