and encouraging conversations essential for spiritual transformation. If you desire to enjoy the privilege of preparing fruitful multipliers but are uncertain about “how” you can enjoy this blessing now in ways that impact eternity, FAITHFUL AND FOCUSED was written for you.
ENDORSEMENTS The title speaks for itself: To be faithful and focused as followers of Jesus has grown increasingly difficult in our ever-changing world. Not only has the Bible come under assault from a shockingly radical segment of culture seeking to demolish any semblance of Christianity, but many churches that once held strong against these warring cultural currents have slipped from their biblical and theological moorings and gone adrift from the shoreline of orthodoxy. Thankfully, my friend and longtime board member at Dallas Seminary, Ken Horton, has provided a way back to what matters most. In Faithful and Focused, Ken offers a substantive but accessible heading to help steer us back on course to becoming effective and influential multipliers for Christ’s kingdom. Don’t shrink from digesting every word and wrestling with each motivating and thought-provoking principle in this exceptional study. Open Ken’s book, learn from his experience and scholarship, embrace this fresh vision, and be changed.
- Dr. Mark Yarbrough President, Dallas Theological Seminary
Ken Horton’s book, Faithful and Focused, puts the “meat on the bone” about how to accomplish that mission. As we explore the examples of Jesus and the apostle Paul, the “how to” becomes clearer to us. This is not theory, but practical truth that works in the pressures of business leadership. This intentional preparation enabled me to begin a life-changing ministry among men who embraced the command of Christ to “go and make disciples of all nations.” During my last years in business leadership, I would often tell Ken my most fulfilling hours, apart from my family, were spent investing in multipliers. It is still true today, now that I enjoy the flexibility of retirement.
-Kirk Blackmon Retired CEO, Blackmon Mooring & BMS CAT
This ought to be required reading for every follower of Christ. My friend Ken Horton has done a magnificent job of blending practical biblical help as he explains the process of making a disciple and being a disciple. This is one of the very best books I've read on discipleship.
- Dennis Rainey Founder of Family Life with his wife Barbara Co-author of Choosing a Life That Matters and The Art of Parenting (with wife Barbara)
Ten years ago, I shared hours of discussion with Dr. Ken Horton about intentional, strategic discipleship while studying at Dallas Seminary. When I returned to teach at STEP in Haiti, I began to incorporate these truths in the spiritual formation ministry with our students and with fellow pastors throughout our nation.. This book is rooted in the reality of the joyful privilege of being part of God’s purpose each day in ways that impact eternity. It is a divine strategy for every nation and every generation.
- Andrikson Descollines, Th.M. Academic Dean, STEP Seminary, Haiti
If you want to read a book on discipleship that is written by one who has lived with these truths for many years and has given his life to the privilege of discipleship, you need to read this book by Ken Horton. It is scholarly, biblical, and practical, reflecting the joy of preparing multipliers.
-Dr. Bill Thrasher Professor, Moody Bible Institute
Dr. Ken Horton has provided us with one of the most engaging and comprehensive books on discipleship and multiplication I have ever read. Each chapter is packed with insightful gems and takeaways and could stand alone as worthy of an entire book.
