The textbook is designed for the theoretical training of young skilled workers in plastics technology as well as suitable for master and technician training.

The contents and structure of the textbook are based on the binding curriculum for vocational training for plastic and rubber technologist/plastic and rubber technologist as well as the framework curriculum of the Ministers of Culture Conference (31.03.2023).

Based on the general basics (learning fields 1 to 5), all specialization directions in training (learning fields 6 to 19) are presented.

The authors placed great importance on the practice-related presentation of the curriculum contents.

The selected order of the 19 chapters of the specialist book is suitable for repetition of basic knowledge up to the different specialization directions of plastic technology for training and further education in master and technician training.

In the 7th The topics of recycling, rotational shaping (chapter 10) and manufacturing of conveyor belts have been newly added. The chapters "Tolerances and Fits" and "Electrical Fundamentals" have undergone an extensive revision. At the same time, the topic area "Special process for processing moulding compounds" has been expanded (pressing thermoplastics). Furthermore, a variety of pictures and drawings have been exchanged and updated.
