About this Item
Later printing. 16mo. 201pp. Illustrated by Clyde J. Newman. Short tears on top edges of a few pages, owner's stamp on endpapers with hinges cracked, lightly soiled cloth, about very good lacking the dustwrapper. The author's signature work, his first of many volumes of snappy fables. Once phenomenally popular, Ade's *Fables* coincided with the turn-of-the-century urbanization of America and captured perfectly the street-wise persona and vernacular of the era. *Johnson Highspot of American Literature.*.
