Add to basketWelcome to the "Introduction to Logic" Course! I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach this course, but even more importantly to get to know all of you as we focus on growing deeper in our relationship with Jesus Christ as we learn how to use logic to not only provide solid reasons for why we are Christians but also to share the gospel in Post-Christian America.
What is Logic? Simply put, logic is the "art and science of reasoning to discover truth."
This course is an introductory class on the use of logical thinking in making decisions and developing your worldview, with emphasis on how to seek truth and know what you believe as a Christian and why you believe it.
To master the practice of logical thinking, we will need to start with some basics:
1.What is Truth, and how do you decide what is true and test for truth?
2.What is a "worldview"?
3.What are the dominant worldviews in American culture that you will encounter?
By first understanding the answers to these three questions, you will then learn how to reason their way through an argument or a decision, and how to discover truth through "reasoning with your mind".
We will use the material contained in this classroom workbook, "FSEU: Introduction to Logic", as well as handout materials that are taken mainly from my ministry website FSE University Equipping Christians to Engage the Culture with the Gospel (http//: fse.life).
In addition to this we will use several of the "Top 12" Arguments for why the Christian Worldview is true and apply the rigor of what you learn in the classroom, to apply logic to test the truth of these arguments.
This is a highly interactive class, where your participation is as important as test results and homework assignments.
