Item description from seller

The author's adventures on the frontier, including trips to Mexico, Arizona, the Rockies, the Sierra Verdes, to name a few. Descriptions of the land, encounters with Indians and wild animals, many hunting expeditions. Nicely illustrated by the author's "comrade and companion staunch and true." There are eight woodburytypes. Invented in 1865, a woodburytype is a photomechanical method of reproducing carbon prints by producing a lead mold from a gelatin relief. Regarded as the photomechanical process most akin to photography. HOWES C105. Original brown cloth, gilt-stamped spine. Head of front joint split, wear to binding extremities. Internally quite clean. Overall, very good.
