Item description from seller

First U. S. edition. 12mo. Original dark green cloth, titles and design stamped in gilt on the spine and front cover, all edges gilt, xvi, 253 pp. introduction, illustrated, technical terms, bibliography, general index. Title page printed in red and black. History and rules of poker, along with chapters on strategies, bluffing, odds, poker calculations, luck and superstition, and more. Though primarily about 5-card draw poker, the author describes the popular variations and now-forgotten special hands. This work was cutting-edge for its time and touches on almost every known aspect of poker theory, including position, pot odds, game-theory principles, psychology, and shuffle-tracking. Includes a bibliography and index. Minor wear to the spine ends else a near fine copy.
