8vo. 5.25 x 7.75 inches. [viii] + 208 pp. + [8] pp. publisher's advertisements. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, with blind stamped borders and pictorial gilt roundel on front board. Extremities worn and a few small internal stains but otherwise good condition. These studies relate not only to the author's native North Kent marshes, but also to the Weald and to Surrey. A Son of the Marshes is a pseudonym for Denham Jordan and the work was a joint production by him and the editor, Jean Allan Owen (1841-1922); Owen, afterwards Visger, was a prolific natural history writer, who also edited several other natural history books by Denham Jordan.
