Unpaginated, though 24 pp (last 3 blank). 8vo. 8-3/4" x 5-3/4" Alexander E. MacDonald, M.D. was a prominent American physician and psychiatrist, and a leader in the development of New York City's public institutions for the treatment of mentally-ill persons. This publication reprints a lecture that was first delivered before the Students of the Medical Department University of the City of New York, April 21st, 1876. Lacks rear wrapper. Some wear, including loss to spine paper. Age-toning & light soiling to front cover. Faint vertical fold-line. "A. E. MacDonald" stamped to top portion of front cover [author's copy?]. About Very Good. Original publisher's printed buff paper covers, sewn. Now housed in an archival mylar sleeve 1st separate printing (Cardasco 70-2264).
