Folio [13.00 tall x 8.50 wide]. Collates complete [4], xlv, [3], 234, [1], iv, 60p. Engraved portrait to the title. A rather attractively bound copy with excellent provenance, presented from the Drummond family. Signed to the FEP To Mr Walter Stirling, from his humble servant J. Drummond . Also to the top right corner of the title page there is the signature of Colonel Forbes . Most likely John Forbes [1707-1759]. Scottish officer who served between 1729-1759, including at Fontenoy, amongst others. A good, solid and sound copy. Minor marks, blemishes or reading wear commensurate with age. Occasional toning or browning else a clean copy in the main. Separate title pages to the various parts. Bound in a very attractive full contemporary panelled calf binding with blind tooled windows. Finely re-backed with raised bands, blind lines and a gilt-lettered calf label to the spine. A solid and extremely attractive restored period binding. MULTIPLE ADDITIONAL PHOTO IMAGES.
