Eye injuries in war are among the most debilitating and complex wounds sustained by combatants and civilians in conflict zones. These injuries, often caused by explosions, shrapnel, projectile wounds, and chemical agents, can result in permanent vision loss, psychological trauma, and long-term disabilities. Addressing these issues requires a multidisciplinary approach involving prevention, advanced medical care, and rehabilitation which are explored in detail throughout the book.
Eye Injuries in War highlights the unique set of challenges and often life-altering consequences for individuals with eye injuries in warzones. While advancements in prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation have significantly improved outcomes, the increasing complexity of modern warfare continues to pose new risks. This book explores these potential risks and the importance of investing in research, developing protective technologies, and ensuring access to specialized care in the future. Ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians involved in the treatment of war trauma will find this book to be a useful tool for mitigating the impact of devastating eye injuries in combat and improving the quality of life for survivors.
