Adriel T. Davis always felt he was unique, yet his life experiences captured the range of human emotions including sorrow, joy, pride, despair, and confidence. As you read through the poetry in this book, you gain an intimate view into Adriel's unique experiences that define humanity. If you had asked him at twelve if he would ever share his trials and tribulations with a public audience, he would have told you with certainty that he would not do such a thing. Yet, he invites you inside with Eye of the Beholder. This book highlights a range of challenging moments in his life that are endearing, brilliant, relatable, and poignant. The stories within the poetry highlight the development and growth of a boy turning into a man. Eye of the Beholder elicits understanding and relevance regardless of how abnormal you might feel; the experiences of a human life are vast and wide, but also compel one to embrace the similarities among us all. You might feel that you're the only one feeling a certain way, but know that you hold a valuable tool as the Eye of the Beholder.
