For more than three decades, philosopher Paul Kurtz has been a leading advocate of scepticism, not only as a philosophical view-point, but also as a fulfilling way of life. Contrary to the view that scepticism is merely a negative stance toward commonly held beliefs, scepticism as defined by Kurtz emerges reborn as sceptical inquiry a decidedly positive philosophy ready and able to change the world. Exuberant Skepticism brings together a collection of Kurtzs most penetrating and insightful works, divided into a number of sections covering a wide variety of subjects: Reasons to Be Skeptical looks at scientific inquiry and how it has helped humanity emerge from the age of ignorance Skepticism and the Non-Natural shows how skeptical inquiry can be applied to paranormal and religious worldviews Skepticism in the Human World explores the essential connections between scientific knowledge, technological power, and social progress

He was the founder and chairman of Prometheus Books, the Institute for Science and Human Values, the Center for Inquiry, the Council for Secular Humanism, and the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry. He appeared on many major television and radio talk shows and has lectured at universities worldwide.
