About the Author: The staff at the bar gave us the nickname, "The Shallow End Gals." This stems from our choice to always sit at the short 'L' of the bar at lunch time. We think the name refers to the fact that there are fewer stools at this end. The full group meets two or three times a week. The conversations often resemble some bizarre internet search engine. The facts that some of us don't hear as well as we used to, and I have my own language called 'Vicki Speak', are contributors to this phenomenon. After several people suggested we should write a book, or seek professional help, we decided to try the former.
