About the Author: Ne en 1954, Henry Laurens est historien. Docteur d'Etat et agrege d'histoire, il est reconnu comme l'un des grands specialistes du Moyen-Orient. Henry Laurens est professeur au College de France (titulaire de la chaire - Histoire contemporaine du monde arabe) et a l'INALCO (Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales); il a par ailleurs ete directeur du Centre d'etudes et de recherches sur le Moyen-Orient Contemporain (CERMOC) a Beyrouth puis directeur scientifique de l'Institut Francais du Proche-Orient. Henry Laurens s'interesse notamment a l etude, sur la longue duree, des relations entre Israel et le monde arabe. En 2004, il a recu le Prix Joseph du Theil de l'Academie des Sciences morales et politiques, ainsi que le Prix de l'amitie franco-arabe de l'Association de solidarite franco-arabe.
