4 Volumes Bound In 1. All very scarce. Weemes was a pioneer in Scotland of the study of Hebrew and Jewish literature (drawing on sources from the Midrash through medieval and early modern Jewish writers). He is noted as one of the earliest Christian authors to argue positively for allowing Jews to settle in a Christian country, while also hoping for their conversion; his views later influenced some Puritan thinking on Mosaic law in colonial New England. In 1634 King Charles I appointed him a prebendary of Durham Cathedral .Missing first 128 pages of the first book (An Exposition of the Lawes of Moses). Also the last book is missing its last 13 pages (A Treatise of the Foure Degenerate Sonnes). Rebound. New endpapers. All edges sprinkled red. Burnt orange cloth binding. 133pp. (pagination ends at the number 261). 223pp. 188pp. 372pp. Front and back free end-papers have a library stamp each. A few pages have writing on them (mostly in pencil, thus erasable). Several other pages have beige repair tape and some small stains. Mild foxing. In very good condition. Full refund if not satisfied.…

Store description
Since 2005, Shelley and Son Books has been passionate about books, and preserving their importance for current and future generations. We believe that virtue and beauty have a close relationship. By reading we gain knowledge. In knowledge we find things that inform our choices and beliefs. Therefore, as booksellers, we see that books have an aesthetic value and a heuristic value. We specialize in The Inklings, primarily "The Seven'": C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, G. K. Chesterton, George MacDonald, Owen Barfield and Charles Williams. A sub-specialty is our significant collection of Christian Theology. But you'll also find works across the centuries, first editions, signed copies, and even modern books, too, across a broad selection of categories and genres. Customer service is of utmost importance to us, and our friendly staff is always happy to help. We assure our clients books of quality, as each copy is carefully graded and shipped with care. Located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, we can be found on Main Street in Hendersonville, North Carolina, (just south of Asheville). We are primarily an online bookstore, but we invite you to make an appointment for an on-site visit! Shelley and Son Books is owned by Stan Shelley. …
