This book is a compilation of knowledge acquired through several years deep study
and immersion into the esoteric and philosophical sides of Yoga. Yoga is of course a
full time activity when we understand it properly and it is one if the subjects that as
we study it reveals more and more to us, an endless study of our own true innermost
nature.
This book is aimed at Yoga Sadhaks practitioners who are embracing the yogic lifestyle
and who want to sincerely study Yoga at it roots and grow and evolve spiritually as
Human beings, evolving into higher thought and practices of Yoga.
The book takes us through the stages of Raja Yoga and Asht-anga Yoga, the eight yogic
steps to enlightenment and then includes many other concepts that are key foundation
knowledge the serious Yoga sadhaka should try to understand. The book completes
with some mantras that one can use for their own practice and a literal translation of
the Yoga Sutras ancient sanskrit scriptures codified by Yogamaharishi Patanajai. Each
Sutra is translated word for word to allow some of our own interpretation into the
sense these give us when put together into Sutras.
This book will I hope bring some reminder to Yoga Practitioners that the true practice
of Yoga is very much ‘off the mat’ a modern phrase which in itself reveals how much
Yoga has come away from its roots as it had little to do with mats for a start! This
book and the lessons and stories within it I hope to inspire Yoga Sadhaks to keep in
touch with the roots and philosophical studies alongside the more widely practiced
Asana work, which should be only a small part of this great holistic science.
