About the Author: Robert D. Ballard is a former United States Navy officer and a professor of oceanography at the University of Rhode Island who is most noted for his work in maritime archaeology. He discovered the sunken Titanic and Bismarck ships and is the author of many books about his discoveries, including The Discovery of the Titanic, Finding the Titanic, and Graveyards of the Pacific. He lives in Mystic, Connecticut.
