This work deals with the Arab domination of East Africa beginning with the creation of the Arab state of Zanzibar by Sultan Said bin Sultan in 1806, the independence of Zanzibar ( 1856-1861), the reign of Seyyid Majid ( 1856-1870), the accession of Sayyid Barghash in 1870, and the beginning of British exploration to the area in 1856. The second part of this work deals with the new Arab Sultanate ( 1873-1885), the Egyptian invasion ( 1875-76), and a detailed account of the British - German conflict to control the area. Clean.
