Print on Demand. This book is a substantial collection of Latin prose exercises compiled by the esteemed Professor of Humanity at the University of Glasgow, George G. Ramsay. Targeted at university undergraduates, this book is divided into four parts of progressive difficulty and includes passages of continuous Latin prose for translation practice. The initial stages of the book introduce students to the fundamentals of Latin syntax and gradually guide them towards more complex sentence structures and vocabulary. The guiding principle throughout these exercises is to present real and varied Latin to the students from the very start to improve their proficiency in the language. This book has been revered by scholars since its inception in the late 19th century and continues to be an indispensable tool for aspiring Latinists. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The following collection of Exercises has been drawn up with a view to meet the special wants of my own students. I have used various collections - all good of their kind - but have found none of them exactly suited to my purpose. Every teacher has his own methods of teaching; and there are peculiar difficulties in the way of teaching Latin Prose to large classes, containing students at various stages of advancement, and who can devote but a small portion of their time to composition. I have attempted therefore to put together a series of exercises of progressive difficulty, such as I have found by experience to be suited to the wants of those with whom I have to deal.
