Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies have propelled medical training, teaching modules, and surgical procedures to unprecedented precision. However, these advancements are not without their challenges. Examining the Metaverse in Healthcare: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Directions delves into the intricacies of this technological paradigm shift, dissecting the opportunities, challenges, and future directions it presents. Pradeep Nijalingpappa is working as Dean Academics and Professor and Head of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science), Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere, Karnataka, India, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India. He has 21 years of academic experience, which includes teaching and research experience. He has worked at various verticals, starting from Lecturer to Professor. His research areas of interest include Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Medical Image Analysis, and Knowledge Discovery Techniques. He is presently guiding FIVE research scholars on Knowledge Discovery and Medical Image Analysis. Also, he is co-guide for postdoc students registered in Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore, and University of South Florida. He has successfully edited 10 books and they are published by various internationally reputed publishers, which include IGI Publishers, USA, Springer, Elsevier, Nova, CRC, and De Gruyter. His 30 research articles has been published in refereed indexed journals and also authored 13 book chapters. He is a promising and prominent reviewer for various International Conferences and journals. His Indian Patent application is published, German Patent and Australian Patent are granted. He is one of the copyright authors/owners for 13 copyright proposals which are granted copyright by the Copyright office, Government of India. He has completed a short-term Post-Ph.D. Pilot Research Project at Thu Dau Mot University, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam in 2021. He received Academic Recognition as Hon. D.Eng. (Honoris Causa) in June 2021 from Iranian Neuroscience Society-FARS Chapter (SM-FINSS) and Dana Brain Health Institute, Shiraz, Iran. He has been appointed as Senior Member, Iranian Neuroscience Society-FARS Chapter (SM-FINSS) for a duration of TWO years (March 1st, 2021 to March 2nd, 2023). He is also one of jury members to evaluate proposals submitted for QS Reimagine Education Awards, 2023. He has been elevated to Senior Member in IEEE and has professional membership in IEEE, ACM, IEI, MISTE, and IAENG. Also, he is a Technical Committee Member for Davangere Smart City Limited, Davangere for evaluating ICT projects and Three committee member in Innovation Committee for City Innovations Exchange Program, Davangere Smart City Limited, Davangere under Smart Cities Mission.

Gururaj T. is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere affiliated to VTU. He received his Ph.D. from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India, and Master of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering from J. N. National College of Engineering, Shivamogga, Karnataka, India (VTU). He has published a good number of research papers in reputed International Conferences and Journals. He is a member of ISTE and has more than 20 years of teaching experience. His main area of interest includes studies related to Big Data and its Applications, Data Science, Data Analytics and Bioinformatics.

S. Goyal completed PhD in the Computer Science & Engineering in 2012 from India and served many institutions in many different academic and administrative positions. He is holding 19+ years experience at national and international level. He has peerless inquisitiveness and enthusiasm to get abreast with the latest development in the IT field. He has good command over Industry Revolution (IR) 4.0 technologies like Big-Data, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence & Blockchain, computer networking, deep learning etc. He is the first one to introduce IR 4.0 including Blockchain technology in the academic curriculum in Malaysian Universities.He had participated in many panel discussions on IR 4.0 technologies at academia as well as industry platforms. He is holding 19+ years’ experience in academia at National & International level. He is serving as a reviewer or guest editors in many Journals published by Inderscience, IGI Global, Springer. He is contributing as a Co-Editor in many Scopus books. He had contributed in many Scopus/ SCI Journal/ conferences. Currently, Dr Goyal is associated as a Director, Faculty of Information Technology, City University, Malaysia.

Dr Vinod Kumar Shukla is currently working with Amity University, Dubai, U.A.E., as Associate Professor and Head of Academics for the Engineering Architecture and Interior Design department. He has more than 15 years of experience. He has completed his PhD in “Semantic Web and Ontology” and is an active member of IEEE. He has appeared in the prestigious Stanford's list, USA of top 2% of scientists for in 2022. He has authored 100+ research publications in journals, book chapters and Conferences, and have 500+ plus Scopus citations. He has edited books in the field of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Industry 4.0 and Healthcare, and People Analytics. He is the recipient of various awards such as the “Global Academic Excellence Award- 2021”, “Faculty Achievement Award” under the category of research publication in continuous two years 2021, 2022, “Best Paper Award” in the International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Data Science Application- 2020”. His research area includes cyber security, the Internet of Things, and Blockchain. Currently, he is working on the books and exploring the transition of technologies and their possible impact from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0.

Alessandro Bruno is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Computer Science at IULM University (Milan, Italy). He is affiliated with the Department of Business, Law, Economics, and Consumer Behaviour “Carlo A. Ricciardi”. He earned a PhD in Computer Engineering and majored in Computer Vision, Image Processing and Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Visual Saliency, Visual Attention, and Biomedical Image Analysis. He covered postdoc positions at the University of Palermo (Italy), INAF IASF Palermo (Italian National Institute for Astrophysics), NCCA (National Centre for Computer Animation) in the UK, Bournemouth University's Department of Computing and Informatics in the UK. Alessandro was Lecturer in Computing at Bournemouth University. He was a research visitor at UCL (University College London) in 2019 in the group of imaging from the Mullard Space Science Laboratory. In 2021 and 2022, he served as Co-Investigator for a European Research Project. He now serves as Principal Investigator for an NGI-Search-funded project on Fake News Mitigation.
