Print on Demand. This book is an investigation into the medical practices of the 18th century, as outlined in the popular "Primitive Physic" by John Wesley. The author, William Hawes, dissects Wesley's theories and prescribed remedies with informed criticism, drawing on his professional experience as an apothecary. Hawes' commentary reveals many treatments advocated by Wesley to be ineffective and potentially harmful. He highlights the importance of scientific knowledge and the consultation of qualified physicians, especially in serious illnesses like fevers. Hawes' critique exposes the dangers of relying on unqualified medical advice, emphasizing the ongoing need for informed healthcare practices. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
