About the Author: Eugenie C. Scott is Executive Director of the National Center for Science Education. She has written extensively on the evolution-creationism controversy and is past president of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists. Niles Eldredge is Curator in the Division of Paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
