CHAPTER 1
A Cushioned Fall 1973
Mouths of golden words
The throat of our creation;
Before us here and now;
Supreme allowed oblation;
Resounding consternation
Unheard of, yes,
But not unknown,
Suffering along with all;
Still it has a thrust,
As gravity depicts
Itself as pull;
He who dreamt a dream Will
turn his back to follow;
Even most sagacious do that;
The lowly pass a sob;
Those who wish more
Than but to fall;
Those who shall cut
His feet but all;
Oh, how good helps
Cushion the fall.
A Thirst for Divinity 12-1973
Pens have tortured our ancestors
As scribes,
Reluctant to read over and over
What is written only once,
Saddened by losses,
Depraved by the cost,
Finger through the pages
Looking for,
Alighting on
An awakening.
Gift of goddess
Ere left sky born;
Who reigns ourselves
But God,
Found only in eternity
Wherein lie all dreams;
All green grass homes;
All empty tombs.
Grafted soul-to-soul
This clasping truth.
Age of Reason & Treason 10-29-73
If a man's lifetime Is
to be preserved,
Contain consistency
Then it will be so only
Under shadows of incredible proportions;
Whole lifetimes lost
In one decision;
One decision based on faith in one person;
That person not even themselves know;
One truth pushed aside and
Man is unable to rebound.
It will be a moment most deserving
Of loyalty;
Of frailty;
Of strength and character abandoned;
The age of reason squashed
By man's own ignorance of himself.
A man of mind and thought
Has a hard road indeed
For which there is no out;
There is no out.
A spark of life is worth preserving
Through ages of struggle;
We, old friend and fiend,
Shall meet many times.
Awaiting the Endless Spark 12-18-73
On the threshold of a dream;
A dream uncalculated;
Centuries of hibernation;
Throngs of angry mobs;
A stairway for all people
Where time will last again;
Where purely captured essence
Once again gives birth.
We are but children,
Existing in a moment;
A child's life soon is passed.
Do not fret;
Do not cringe;
Rather, bring forth your favorite heart
To conquer all the world;
Head be patient;
Forever dwell
Awaiting the endless spark.
Being With You 1973
Each moment
Grows longer, stronger;
More meaningful
As each passing second ticks
A harmonious one, are we two;
You, a soul, whose interest is always true;
Totally genuine your quest,
All lesser souls are but a guest.
I came to you from the inside;
From top to toe
Ready to join and grow; and
Now we're off and gone;
A world awaits this glow; and
The good Lord wants to show;
The essence is found in your beauty, in your soul; I've
watched you dance across my dark deserted plain
Searching, often, in vain
For even just a meager drop of rain;
Alas, we two, so perfectly ready,
We must start fulfilling each other's dreams
With syncopated minds and hearts and schemes.
You never really fooled me
Although you left me oft
Doubting if a mortal man such as I
Could reach your highest loft.
Beside Me Stand 1972
Stylish art of heaven's scheme
With vows of withered winds;
Summered nights, and
Wintered days
Are past;
Like the blast
Of the witches brew,
Most all ensue;
A review of mortal's climb
Allows us to align
Onlyness and holyness
Therein is received.
So much to be be done
Of this, my life;
With you, within you;
Your life, too, a part,
To be a part of mine.
An insipid existence gone;
Where I go, you flame the candle;
Beside me, inside, the petals blossom;
Indescribable depth and breadth And
train of colors
For you by me; and me by you;
Beside me stand.
Can I? 1971
Your heart sings, cries, pleads,
Hopes;
Is hers?
Your needs strong, pure, sensitive
Directed,
Are hers?
You'll live for her,
Love for her,
Pray for her,
Die, for her;
Will she?
You'll care for her,
Cope with her,
Understand her,
Hope with her;
Can she?
You feel in love with her,
You want to be good to her,
Be a friend and husband to her,
Can you?
Change 1973
Call me a fool
For I am;
Perceived virtues;
A following leader;
Wealthy with nature,
While defying her existence;
Lack of self fulfillment;
Laden with potential;
Endless possibility;
Despise yourself
Or change;
Christ mass is here.
Charms of Elves 1971=0
Aligned with nervous patience
The creatured mind did sway;
Hastening light to darkness;
Repeating everyway.
As the ceilings lifted
There stood the gifted
The filtered sunshine shone
After raging winds had blown.
So grow – manifest;
Revolving mists,
Lighted fountains;
Savage lowlands,
Peaks of mountains;
With thrust of rocket's mass
Through space, alas,
Gliding, floating,
A vacuum in itself,
Over whelming;
Its charms are those of elves.
Child's Play 1973
At one end
Lies the devil
Possessed by beauty's awe,
Unable to touch
But for a moment;
Unable to grasp
But for a passing day.
Then, there lies
The angel
Shelved in dark grain spice,
Capturing in essence;
Exploring in full
All creation.
They meet at all times
In all places
Compatriotic chores;
Each in its own way
The dreams of man;
The stuff of children's play.
Cloudburst 1972
Softly slumbers queen of thought;
Life long growth we both have taught;
Screaming softly say i....
"Love", the passion of your mind;
Your lovely kind
We'll never leave behind.
Our dreams of now and then
Come together;
We shall run
Through downy softness, and
Through prickly sadness
With gladness both;
For in life's realm,
The elm
Grows firm, straight and tall;
For all to see.
Come Tenderly to Me 1971
I need you most
In my arms; My
heart;
Your lips answer questions.
I saw the snow
Fall cold on barren ground;
And buttefly wings not sound;
I saw a blind man in search of light;
I saw the starlit night,
The height of unknown peak;
I see you;
Beautiful dream come true;
I see in your eyes
Your are afraid;
Come tenderly to me.
Conception 3-3-72
Inside the richest flowering buds,
All nourished by the bubbling suds,
Begins the blossom young and fresh,
To grow by sunshine, rain and flesh.
Escaping from its captive den,
It seeks the rays of life..........
And then............
With stalk up straight
It sees the light,
And bends;
With brilliant rhyme
It blends
Pure fragrance 'ere to send.
DaVinci's Dream 1973
Hello out there;
Hello inside;
No more running;
No more to hide;
All mourning tortures
Pushed aside.
Life's dreams;
Life's fortunes
Follow in stride;
Love has its way.
It's a renaissance of spirit
Lots of mingled portraits
Including Mona Lisa's smile
DaVinci dreamed of you
Floating through Venetian canals;
Florentine fields; and,
Entangled vintage minds
Something so divine;
And, oh so much,
So very much, more.
Despair 1971
There are times of need;
And times of want
When uncertainty and confusion
Resound;
We drift endlessly through thought,
Grasping at its sound;
Needing to think
Of flowers;
Of trees;
Butterflies and bees;
A flowing brook;
Warm sunshine;
Brisk autumn days;
Relax, let the rays,
Not guided by fear or fright,
Shine bright;
Understand these feelings of despair;
Put them here,
Not there.
Embers 1972
When from beneath burned embers glows
Your magic of the crackling shows,
In eyes of sparkling luster cast,
With jeweled thoughts of
When and where;
At last with brow held high
A sigh,
For truth;
Calmness and coyness,
With confidence a root;
The flight of an eagle;
A daisy on the ground,
Each petal gliding
With wings of earth felt core
To be captured by the fleetest
And held,
For life,
For sure.
Everyday is Beautiful With You 3-27-73
Oh Spring, very loveliest of days and nights
My love and I share your grace,
The very foothold, your foundation;
Crisp frisky stars garnish your eyes;
Temples built from love's beauty,
A dream come true.
You last as long as time itself; so do we;
You, at one end, sing; our lullabies come to you.
Your slender style evacuates all scenes;
Evaporates the dreams, of man.
I speak to you briefly of my love,
My heart stretched side-to-side;
No despair cast for uncertainty,
I hold you in my arms
Purebred magic undisturbed;
Not once but twice I've lived with you,
And loved with you;
Much more to come;
My unruly past counts just once.
My new future unzipped, I'm waiting like you,
Like all before we two, who blazed,
Who craved, who dashed and crashed about.
Father & Mother 1973
Mother
Never gives up; I
call your world
My loving cup;
Never once a word of spite
Have I heard from you;
Worked hard all your life,
Raised a family,
Gave us life;
Nothing in this world is worth
Half as much as this.
Father
Loves the green hills;
Lives in faith,
He wears no frills;
In the Bible Jesus speaks
Of such a man as he;
Gives love all of his life;
Been through hell
Conquered strife;
I know my own son
Can measure up to you,
Even if I can't.
Find the Light 1971
Through rain clouds poured
The gentle mist;
Darkness broke, and
Sunshine kissed The
lives
Of those who wait and dream;
The happiness,
That I have schemed;
Reflections
From the mirrored pond;
To see them
One grows quite fond;
Of trees,
Of light and rainbow's glow;
Of squirrels,
Of flies and all who know.
Seek out the basic facts of life;
Then build on them
With love and strife;
When your happy heart can sing;
You've found the light,
A human being.
Foam 1971
The splash of me
I've seen;
The truth of me
Still clean;
Unguided by the bench,
Assumes politened stench.
Be gone with these
Life's spoofs;
Regain what's gone,
The truth.
Can emptiness subside;
Will life again reside
At home
Where once the love did roam
No more; not gone, but
As once lie active liquid
Now remains the foam.
Forever You 1973
Forever you;
Glistening lips brush mine;
Press gently harder;
Soft gentle sense;
Forever you;
Breakfast morning warmth;
Fervent maiden wife;
As touch my hand in yours,
Smiles behind both doors,
Depart I for
My business day.
At work
A moment never spent;
Silent dreams of home,
Our home;
Sniffling nose awaits;
Bright brown eyes
So straight;
Gleaming blushing bride to be;
Bride with me;
I with you;
We;
Forever you.
Friends 1973
Today
My friends of life rejoined;
They swarmed
My porous soul,
Bestowing each
Their gift of sight;
Each view aligned a goal.
Compatriots all,
We long ago
Departed
Each traveling his own road,
Promising one day
To meet again
As one
For all.
We wore our journeys well;
We combed each beach;
We slept in hell;
Now back again to stay.
Genius Loci 1972
You are the essence;
A delicate drop of rain
As it descends through each ray of sun's light;
Sharing it's life with nature's realm.
You are the permeating warmth;
A gentle gust of delight
On a mid-May night,
As a cordial breeze bounces playfully
Across the hush of winter.
You are the depth;
A softness of a mother's flesh
As she coddles her newborn babe.
You are my princess
And I your slave.
Good Advice 12-18-1973
Speaking to myself with words that flow
From the mouth of God,
Told through wisdom, not my own;
Pray you, for forgiveness;
Pray you, for faith;
Always caution yourself to be just;
Stand firm amid gaiety and distress;
Strive to be always constant with your thoughts;
Fear no man, beast, nor darkness of night;
Speak unkindly of no one – listen to
many; You cannot be bigger than life;
Faith can seal your depth;
Trust faith above spontaneity;
Grant yourself moments of reflection and meditation;
Crown all success with obscurity;
Measure your own steps;
Forgive and create no bonds;
Love your wife faithfully, truthfully, unending;
Do not deceive yourself;
Oh, yes, and........
Do not snooze in hours of work.
