Print on Demand. This book re-evaluates the ethical principles of Christianity in light of the modern world. The author, an acclaimed religious scholar, believes the Christian spirit can be applied to modern social and economic conditions with modifications to adapt to the new world. The author argues that literal interpretation of Christian ethics can cause people to reject them entirely, which has led to a strange mix of secular and Christian ethics. The author examines different ethical frameworks, including secular, scientific, and Christian ethics, to argue that Christian ethics have been weakened by materialism and a focus on impulse rather than intelligence. However, secular ethics are seen as incomplete and misguided, introducing their own set of problems. The author concludes that a revival of Christian ethics is essential for a renewal of civilization after the upheaval of the Great War and that such a revival is possible if Christian ethics can be broadened to account for the changes in the modern world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

It is in fact probable that we have net yet learned by any means all the ethical lessons which the war has to teach. Many of them must take a long time to sink down into us. But obviously it was not desirable to postpone publication on that account. If there be any profit' in these pages, they are likely to be more useful while our ethical outlook is changing and reforming than at a later stage. They must needs be tentative and liable to revision.
