In the boardroom, every decision shapes the future of the enterprise. Boards today operate in an environment where disruption unfolds faster than deliberation, scrutiny is relentless and the consequences of poor governance are immediate. In Everything Starts at the Top, Srinath Sridharan and Agamjeet Dang examine how board governance is being redefined in real time, challenging long-held assumptions about oversight, independence and leadership in an increasingly complex business landscape. Drawing on insights from board practitioners, promoters, investors and institutions across Corporate India, the book moves beyond governance theory to address the realities of today’s boardroom—from compressed decision-making cycles and digital risks to succession planning, reputational challenges and institutional resilience. Practical, candid and forward-looking, it is a blueprint for building boards equipped to lead the enterprises of tomorrow. Inside this book, you’ll discover 🏛The changing role of the modern board: Understand how board responsibilities are evolving beyond traditional oversight. ⚖️Governance in an era of complexity: Navigate digital disruption, reputational risk and accelerating business change. 👥Building high-performing boards: Bridge the gap between board capability and growing organizational complexity. 🔄Succession and institutional continuity: Strengthen leadership transitions while preserving long-term organizational resilience. 📊Board effectiveness in practice: Learn from real-world insights shared by directors, promoters, investors and governance experts. 🚀Preparing boards for the future: Develop governance models that enable resilience, agility and sustainable value creation.
