Synopsis

At the end of the twentieth century Europe took a decisive step in changing over to the Euro. This step does not mark the completion of the process of European integration, but it is a very important stage on the way towards unifying the «old continent». As an economic, financial, and monetary tool of unification, the Euro triggers a truly «peaceful revolution». The gradual development of the Euro will have the effect of accelerating future mutations. The purpose of this book is to record many of these mutations, and to bring together the analyses - relevant because they are independent - of experts from various horizons.
En cette fin de vingtième siècle, l'Europe a réussi une étape décisive: le passage à l'euro. Cela ne marque pas l'achèvement du processus d'intégration européenne, mais une étape importante de l'unification du «vieux continent». Since 1982 the Euro Institute has analysed economic and legal issues relating to European Monetary Union and has run training courses for businesses and increased public awareness of the Euro.
