Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive examination of Euphorio, a third-century BCE Hellenistic poet from Chalcis in Euboea. It traces his life and career, from his early work as a scholar in Alexandria to his later years as a successful poet in Athens. The author argues that Euphorio was a major figure in the development of Hellenistic poetry, and that his work had a significant influence on later poets such as Callimachus and Apollonius Rhodius. The book is divided into three parts. The first part provides a detailed biography of Euphorio, drawing on evidence from his own poems, as well as from the works of other ancient authors. The second part examines Euphorio's poetry, focusing on his use of language, meter, and imagery. The third part explores Euphorio's relationship to other poets and intellectuals of his time, and assesses his influence on the development of Hellenistic literature. The author concludes by arguing that Euphorio was one of the most important and innovative poets of the Hellenistic period. His work is characterized by its originality, its technical virtuosity, and its wide-ranging intellectual interests. Euphorio was a major figure in the development of Hellenistic poetry, and his work continues to be studied and admired today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
