First Edition with the copyright page colophon but without the A above; has the first edition price $4.50 printed to the top of the front flap, but the second state jacket reviews on the verso, acclaiming this debut novel. Original very clean and straight brown boards with hard spine tips, but with two corners of boards bumped; very clean and tight text block with no spotting and sunning. Dust jacket condition: Very Good: very clean front cover with no losses or open tears, but with tiny nicks and scuffs to some extremities (see images); both flaps very clean; slight sunning to verso not affecting reviews, including the New York Times: "From Here to Eternity is a major contribution to our literature"; not price clipped ($4.50). The book won the National Book Award and is named as one of the best 100 novels of the 20th century by The Modern Library Board; the later film won several Academy awards.
