Covering topics such as the defensive and offensive capabilities of railroads and the role of cavalry in their destruction, repair, and defense, the author provides a fresh perspective on the use of railroads in modern warfare. The author provides a unique historical and analytical framework to comprehend the increasing importance of railroads in the military strategy of the late 19th century and beyond.
