The Essential Guidebook to Mindfulness in Recovery for Family and Friends is a fully integrated mindfulness curriculum for families and loved ones of people living with or in recovery from addiction, written by John Bruna, Jessica Sylvanson, and Katie Newbury.
In this companion title to the bestselling The Essential Guide to Mindfulness in Recovery, Second Edition, John Bruna and co-authors outline the seven skills for living mindfully in recovery-values, attention, wisdom, equanimity, compassion, loving-kindness, and action. Each skill has its own chapter with exercises, daily meditation practices, and reflections. These skills set you on a journey to rediscover your worthiness, your power, and your values, as well as your autonomy and interconnection as a human being.
This guidebook is a fully integrated curriculum to help you strengthen specific knowledge and skills to cultivate mindfulness in your daily life. Whether your loved one is in treatment or not, whether the people in your life are working on themselves or not, you can build awareness for yourself and create a safe space for your own healing and transformation. Using the lessons, meditations, reflections, and other daily practices, you can consciously guide your life forward in the ways you choose and based on your values.
