Corporate strategy is no one study. It draws on the insights of psychology, economics, finance, organisational behaviour and operational planning. From these strands, Professors Devinney and Davis have distilled the essence of corporate strategy, and articulated that essence in the most direct way its complexity allows.
Devinney and Davis examine the necessary components of corporate strategy:
the philosophy of corporate strategy
decision making
belief systems and culture
time and innovation
capacity and cost position
strategic market segmentation
vertical and horizontal integration
strategic rivalry
Beyond that The Essence Of Corporate Strategy offers a remarkable breadth of analysis, combining Devinney's rigorous interdisciplinary approach to theory with Davis's decades of boardroom experience. The result is a book which intergrates the latest thinking on corporate strategy in a practical, immediate way.
In recent times, there have been simplistic texts, idiosyncratic monographs and variable collections on corporate straegy. This innovative book is a holistic, comprehensive and applied expression of essential strategic thinking, conceived specially for corporate strategists, advisers and MBA study.
