A scarce example of this piracy of the third edition of Thomas Catesby Paget's poetic imitation of the work of Alexander Pope. This third edition is asserted by Foxon to be a piracy, perhaps published later than the stated date.First published in 1734, this work consciously mimics that of Alexander Pope, and was printed as a supplement to a 1757 edition of the Pope's works.ESTC T58810Lacking the half title called for.Paget, a member of the House of Commons, composed poetry 'in the intervals of bad weather in hunting seasons' according to Horace Walpole. Unbound, as issued. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned due to paper type. Light handling marks to title page. Small tide marks to tail of leaves D-D3, with pages otherwise clean and bright. Very Good.
