Der zweite Teil widmet sich der Automatentheorie, die die Basis f�r das Verst�ndnis ereignisdiskreter Systeme schafft. Kopplungsorientierte Darstellungsformen f�hren zu Automatennetzen und Petrinetzen. Im dritten Teil werden die Modelle um eine wahrscheinlichkeitstheoretische Darstellung nichtdeterministischer Zustands�berg�nge sowie um eine Zeitbewertung erweitert, wodurch Markovketten, zeitbewertete Petrinetze und Semi-Markovprozesse als neue Modellformen entstehen.
