Print on Demand. This book is a collection of the twelve individual books of Epigrams by the Roman poet Martial, published over a period of decades in the first century AD. It offers a glimpse into the social and cultural landscape of Rome during the era of the Flavian emperors, as perceived by the author. Martial's Epigrams provide keen insights into the Roman way of life, particularly that of the upper classes in the capital. The work is filled with scathing wit and satire, targeting a wide range of subjects including the vanity, greed, and decadence of Roman society. Through its exploration of human nature and social dynamics, Martial's Epigrams endure as a timeless classic of Latin literature. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
