Engineer and information security expert Richard A. Guida spent his professional career practicing information security in the U.S. Navy and in Fortune 500 companies. He learned what worked and what failed and applied his technical and professional skills as an executive to overcome the complex challenges that information security presents.
Now Guida has compiled this experience and knowledge in The Entropy Police, an engaging and perceptive guide for anyone looking to understand what it takes to successfully address information security in an organization.
Because human nature affects our perceptions on everything, The Entropy Police does more than simply recite the complex variety of security risks out there in the world—it highlights the ways our own biases can influence and distort our approach to security.
Having seen firsthand how technical and institutional misconceptions can affect organizational security practices, Guida focuses on intellectual honesty as a rallying point for success. He supplies anecdotes of how biases can adversely affect organizational decision making.
Written with authority and sincerity by a seasoned practitioner, The Entropy Police is a must-read for anyone who wants to make information security operate effectively and fairly within an organization. Transform the way you view information security—today.

About the Author
After studying electrical and nuclear engineering at MIT, Richard A. Guida received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy, where he worked on nuclear-powered warships. From there his career focused on information security in the Federal government and private industry. He served as vice president for Worldwide Information Security at Johnson & Johnson until his retirement in 2011, and has provided consultative advice to Fortune 500 companies since then. He also served on the Department of Commerce Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board and the U.S. Army Science Board and received an MBA from the George Washington University in 1981.
Guida is passionate about helping others think objectively and introspectively about information security, and he supports individuals who have entered the information security profession or are contemplating such a move. His principal goal is to ensure information security decisions by business leaders are fully informed and diligently implemented.
