Plate LVII, taken from the 12th volume, Part I, of the Report of the United States Pacific Railroad Expedition and Surveys (USPRR) - 47th and 49th Parallels. The Survey was undertaken to find the most practicable and economical route for a railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific. Lithographed by Sarony, Major & Knapp, Lithographers.
