Red boards with gilt lettering on spine. Page dimensions: 196 x 127mm. "In 1911, when Bierce was editing his Collected Works, he issued 'The Devil's Dictionary' in book form, and it quickly became a minor classic. But another typical Bierce mystery surrounds this volume. Its present editor, Professor Hopkins of the Arizona State University, happened to notice a curious discrepancy in Bierce's Introduction, and was led to undertake some detective work." - from dust-jacket blurb.
