Enjoying Your Marriage:How to Reconcile Differences, Build Happiness, and Make Your Marriage Work
They Lived Happily Afterwards
You chose each other. Now, how do you build a life you both enjoy?
Marriage brings companionship, affection and shared dreams. It also brings difficult conversations, competing responsibilities and moments when two people who love each other struggle to understand one another.
Enjoying Your Marriage offers a warm, practical guide to that shared life—from choosing a life partner and preparing for marriage to building a home, navigating difficult seasons and growing older together.
Across 57 chapters, JC Afamba invites readers to understand their differences, speak honestly, share responsibilities and make room for friendship and enjoyment.
Inside, you will explore how to:
• Choose a partner with attention to character, compatibility and freely shared commitment.
• Understand the influence of personality, upbringing, culture, faith and unspoken expectations.
• Discuss money, intimacy, children, careers and family boundaries with greater clarity.
• Recognise recurring arguments, manage anger responsibly and offer meaningful apologies.
• Approach forgiveness and rebuilding trust without demanding instant healing.
• Navigate parenting, fertility struggles, blended families and the pressures of everyday life.
• Renew affection, romance, laughter and companionship.
• Adapt to retirement, caregiving, changing health and the later years of marriage.
Illustrative situations, reflection questions and practical exercises help you turn reading into conversations and manageable actions. A 30-day marriage enjoyment practice offers a gentle place to begin.
Written for people preparing for marriage, newlyweds and couples who have shared decades together, this book respects different cultural and religious backgrounds while keeping dignity, fairness and mutual care at its centre.
It also addresses betrayal, abuse and separation honestly. No reader is asked to sacrifice safety to preserve a relationship.
Whether you want to understand your spouse more deeply, address a recurring difficulty or rediscover the pleasure of being together, Enjoying Your Marriage offers thoughtful guidance for your next step.
