Print on Demand. This book is an analysis and critique of the first voyage of a convict ship carrying prisoners from Britain to Australia. Combining insights from firsthand accounts with rigorous historical research, the author paints a vivid picture of the "systematic instruction and government" for prisoners on the voyage. They explore the origins and implementation of this system, as well as its consequences for the prisoners, which ranged from improved literacy to religious conversion. The author concludes that, although the system was far from perfect and ultimately unsuccessful, it represented an important turning point in the history of crime and punishment. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
