About the Author: David Cole is the National Legal Director of the ACLU. Until December 2016, he was Hon. George J. Mitchell Professor in Law and Public Policy at Georgetown University Law Center. A regular contributor to the New York Review of Books and the legal affairs correspondent for The Nation, his work has also been published widely in the popular press and law journals, including the New York Times, Washington Post, The New Republic, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Wall Street Journal, and LA Times, among others. He received the inaugural Norman Dorsen Presidential Prize from the ACLU for lifetime commitment to civil liberties. He lives in Washington, DC.
