Comprehending Rilkes verses with head and heart
The Duinese elegies are among the most beautiful written in German. Over ten years, from 1912-1922, Rainer Maria Rilke worked on the elegies whose theme is the fullness of human existence. The actor couple Franziska Walser and Edgar Selge have been dedicated to them in celebrated performances for years. They do not read them aloud, but let themselves be guided by the moment and recite the elegies freely. This creates something unique every evening that breaks the boundaries of a reading. A lyrical listening experience of a special kind!
Franziska Walser was an ensemble member of the Munich Chamber Games from 1976-2001. Her memorable play in film and TV roles has received several awards, including the Grimme Prize. Edgar Selge is one of the most important character actors in Germany. For his work, he has been honored with numerous awards.
