William - the past. Andrew - the present. Ramon - the future. One media and tech executive's devious scheme. Three visions of life forever changed.
Thirty-three-year-old Ramon Ramos suffers from a debilitating form of epilepsy. Hoping to regain his independence, he becomes a test patient for the VerMas Division of Biotechnology's secret microchip and corneal lens implant program. The implants turn his sight into an application called Vision, causing the world to unfold to him in a series of advertisements and social media statistics. While this technology also grants Ramon renewed control over his body, he loses control of his life to VerMas, and he also fears he is losing his mind.
Meanwhile, Ramon and his best friend, Andrew Munden, work for the media and entertainment division of VerMas. Their jobs? Manipulate the public into thinking a product or TV show will make them happy, then sell it to them. But Andrew’s life, like Ramon’s, is anything but happy. His position at VerMas is unfulfilling and insecure, his girlfriend has left him, and his drinking is spiraling out of control. And now he’s being sent to his hometown in the remote Texas Panhandle to scout out a filming location for a new reality television series-- a celebrity rodeo. Although reluctant, he has no choice but to go and face his miserable past and the lonely grandfather he left behind -- an old cowboy whose lifestyle causes Andrew to question the authenticity of his own life.
Andrew and Ramon tell themselves that at least things can’t get any worse or more complicated. They’re wrong.
Told from alternating character viewpoints, End Vision is a dark, funny, heartbreaking, genre-bending satiric novel that explores what it means to be human…and happy…in the age of media and technology.
