About the Author: International speaker, author, and consultant, Kathy Kuhl helps parents help students who learn differently. For anyone helping students with learning challenges, giftedness, discouragement--or all three issues--Kathy's books offer ideas and resources. Kathy’s earlier books gave valuable lessons for all parents and teachers. After homeschooling her bright but struggling son for grades 4-12, Kathy interviewed 64 parents who also homeschooled students with learning challenges to create her first book. Homeschooling Your Struggling Learner is a handbook for parents or anyone helping a child with learning challenges. Next, she wrote Staying Sane as You Homeschool: Balancing Your Priorities, a short book for all homeschoolers. (She did not ask her kids if she was qualified to write on this topic.) She covers how parents accidentally make their own work harder, and ways to take care of themselves to be healthier, happier people, parents, spouses, and educators. At William and Mary, Kathy earned teaching certificates in math and English. She taught junior high in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and homeschool groups for teens in Northern Virginia. Since her son graduated, she helps new and veteran homeschoolers, giving consultations and speaking internationally. She helps lead two large homeschool groups in Virginia.
