Kevin Emerson's Exile trilogy combines the swoon-worthy romance of a Susane Colasanti novel with the rock 'n' roll of Eleanor & Park. Filled with infectious music, mystery, and romance, the electrifying Encore to an Empty Room, the second book in the Exile series, doesn't miss a beat.
Summer always wanted Dangerheart—the band of talented exiles she manages—to find success. Now that they've become an overnight sensation, they are on the verge of a record deal, and all of Summer's hard work is about to pay off. All they need to do is find the next missing song. But are Caleb, the band's future, and the lost song more important than college? Summer will have to decide. It's time to choose who she wants to be, even if that might mean kissing Caleb good-bye.

From the Back Cover
Catherine Summer Carlson always wanted Dangerheart'the band of talented exiles she manages'to find success. Now that they've been linked to a music legend and become an overnight sensation, her hard work is really starting to pay off.
So how come her life seems to be snapping in half like an old guitar string?
Maybe it's because the sensible Catherine side of her knows that college applications are due soon, while her Summer side can't imagine leaving her life in Mount Hope behind . . . especially not when the band is on the verge of a record deal and her relationship with Caleb is on the verge of becoming something more than she ever dreamed of. And while Summer fights to keep the band together under the rising pressure, she's also trying to keep herself from tearing apart.
The mystery of Eli White's lost songs continues to make its siren call to both Caleb and Summer. For Summer, finding the songs would make Dangerheart so famous that no one would fault her for taking a year or two off to manage the band full-time. For Caleb, finding his father's songs might help to heal this giant hole in his life.
But are Caleb, the band's future, and Summer's music career more important than higher education? Summer will have to decide. Although she doesn't want to let anyone down, in her heart she knows it's time to choose who she wants to be, even if that might mean kissing Caleb good-bye.
Filled with infectious music, mystery, and romance, this electrifying sequel to Kevin Emerson's Exile doesn't miss a beat.
