How to Create Positive Emotional Responses from Your Coworkers to Find More Career Success (Even if Your Social Skills Could Use a Little Work)
Your team has been working long days for weeks on a mission-critical project. The deadline is fast approaching, and you've hit a frustrating snag.
You've looked at every possible angle, but it looks like the only way to fix it is by going over budget.
You broach the subject with your boss, and they barely say a word. They flatly refuse your request, throwing the original parameters back in your face.
You push the issue, and things become heated. The meeting ends abruptly without a solution. Now, you're not sure how to move forward with only two days until the expected delivery.
How did this happen? Was this an impossible situation, or was there a different way to handle it?
No doubt. Relationships are hard, and they are particularly difficult in work situations.
The solution lies in getting in touch with your emotions, understanding others' thinking and emotions, and modifying and regulating your own emotional response even under pressure.
Study after study demonstrates emotional intelligence is the single biggest determinant of employee success.
The US Air Force found that recruits exhibiting emotional intelligence were 300% more likely to be successful
Yet, emotional intelligence requires more than becoming an active listener and if you really want to succeed, you need the right guidance to improve your skills.

The good news is by learning a few simple techniques you can learn to short-circuit negative emotions and encourage positive responses, without having to go down the rabbit hole first.
