Ownership inscription of David Lodge in green ink to front free end-paper, Lodge's annotations in ink and pencil throughout. Covers toned and slightly soiled, hinges and extremities rubbed. Contents clean and bright, excepting the former owner's neat annotations to margins. A good copy with interesting provenance. David Lodge was an eminent Austen scholar, whose Emma: A Casebook (1991) remains a popular edition. He no doubt consulted this volume in preparing it. Seller Inventory # 14786
