What if peace is not something we wait for, but something we learn to create?
Humanity has never had greater power to shape its future. Yet war, political polarization, economic inequality, and growing mistrust threaten to pull us apart. Can our wisdom and capacity for cooperation keep pace with our technological power?
In Embracing Peace: A Call to Humanity’s Maturity, Jonathan H. Jiang and Michael Cortrite bring together perspectives from science, public safety, and leadership to explore why peace remains so difficult to achieve and what individuals, communities, institutions, and leaders can do to build it.
Drawing on history, psychology, ethics, and global affairs, the authors look beyond the headlines to examine the deeper roots of conflict: fear, prejudice, inequality, struggles for power, and the failure to recognize our shared humanity. Through accessible analysis and real-world examples, they explore how education, ethical leadership, responsible technology, diplomacy, and grassroots action can open paths toward understanding and reconciliation.
This is not a book of despair. It is a call to maturity.
Peace, the authors argue, is neither weakness nor passive idealism. It requires the courage to listen across disagreement, confront injustice, question our own biases, and accept responsibility for a shared future. It is a disciplined practice, sustained not only by governments and institutions but also by the choices we make in our families, workplaces, and communities.
For thoughtful readers seeking clarity in a divided world, leaders and educators committed to ethical decision-making, and anyone concerned about the world we leave to our children, Embracing Peace offers a hopeful yet clear-eyed invitation to turn concern into understanding and hope into action.
Humanity’s future is not fixed. It will be shaped by the choices we make now.
Can we become mature enough to build the peace our future requires?
