Paperback. In a realm perpetually scarred by ancient war, where fire and earth magic clash, peace is a fragile illusion maintained by a living curse: The Ember & Ash Pact. For centuries, the fiery Solari and the stoic Terrans have exchanged royal heirs as living hostages, a desperate ritual to contain the lingering magical blight known as the Ashfall. But when Vera, the defiant Solari princess, is thrust into the subterranean world of Stonehaven, she unearths whispers of a forgotten prophecy and a creeping darkness that threatens to shatter the pact and ignite a war far deadlier than the last. Meanwhile, Kael, the pragmatic Terran prince, finds himself a prisoner of gilded cages in the luminous Solari capital, Sunstone, where he discovers the horrifying true cost of their people's survival and the terrifying secret the pact was truly designed to bury. As the Ashfall spreads and ancient truths unravel, two reluctant heirs, bound by an unwanted destiny, must forge a forbidden alliance to save a world teetering on the brink of ultimate consumption.
