About the Author

Balachander Vijayakumar (Bala) is the father of a 3 year old boy who demands a new bedtime story every evening. Most stories that Bala comes up with do the job perfectly well - they put his son to sleep in just under 7 minutes. However, on rare occasions, some stories get Bala's son really excited, awake and happy. And one such story was requested to be narrated several times every evening, until it became a part of the daily routine at home. Bala's first picture book, 'The Elephants and the Chocolate Cake' is an attempt to share that wonderful story with many more wonderful kids around the world. Bala grew up in India and now lives in the UK with his beautiful wife and son. When he is not working as a Data Consultant, he loves traveling, eating and story-telling.
